چکیده
Abstract Funding Acknowledgements Type of funding sources: None. Introduction Obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) is associated with left atrium (LA) remodelling and dysfunction, developing even before ventricle (LV) hypertrophy diastolic dysfunction. Two-dimensional speckle-tracking echocardiography (2D-STE) may help to detect subclinical LA dysfunction irreversible cardiac changes. Purpose To evaluate changes geometry function after short term continuous positive airway pressure therapy (CPAP) for OSA using 2D-STE. Methods 47 obese patients aged between 18 65 years old were enrolled in the study. Control group (N=13) consisted healthy subjects who either did not have OSA, or it was mild (apnea/hypopnea index (AHI) 5 – 14/ hour). (N=34) moderate severe (AHI ≥ 15/ Transthoracic 2D STE analysis performed 3 months treatment CPAP, control at a baseline only. Statistical analyses SPSS 27.0 software. The value p<0.05 considered as statistically significant. Results younger, had more female patients, prevalence arterial hypertension lower compared group. All preserved LV EF (>50 %) without significant differences groups. related prevalent (p = 0.023) increased myocardial mass when indexed by height (46.11 (8.23) vs 38.96 (5.9) g/m 2.7, p 0.007). significantly higher diameter (43.58 (8.19) 36.23 (3.08) mm, <0.001), while volume differ (p>0.05). reservoir strain (26.56 (1.38) 31.01 (1.56) %, p<0.001) After CPAP diameter, volume, MMi, conduit contractile change , but decreased improved. (Table 1). Conclusions Our study showed height, together reduced ejection fraction. Short improved patients.

Impact of continuous positive airway pressure treatment on left atrial volume and function in patients with obstructive sleep apnoea assessed by real-time three-dimensional echocardiography
BACKGROUND Obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) has been reported as a predictor of left ventricle (LV) diastolic dysfunction and left atrium (LA) remodelling. The aim of this study is to evaluate the impact of OSA treatment with a continuous positive airway pressure device (CPAP) on the LA volume and function, as well as on the LV diastolic function. METHODS In total, 56 OSA patients were studied....

AIMS In this study, we aimed to assess left ventricular (LV) systolic and diastolic functions by tissue Doppler imaging (TDI) in patients with obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome (OSAS) and to investigate the effects of 6 month continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) on LV systolic and diastolic functions. METHODS AND RESULTS We studied 28 new diagnosed moderate and severe OSAS patients (apn...
متن کاملIs continuous positive airway pressure necessarily an everyday therapy in patients with obstructive sleep apnoea?
There are limited data on the evolution of obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) during continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy and whether this treatment is required every night. 125 OSA patients with an original oxygen desaturation index (ODI) >10 events per hour, established on CPAP, were asked to withdraw CPAP for four nights and performed ambulatory nocturnal pulse oximetry on the four...
متن کاملContinuous positive airway pressure therapy lowers vagal tone in patients with obstructive sleep apnoea-hypopnoea syndrome.
INTRODUCTION Sleep apnoea, which constitutes a major social problem because of its high prevalence and its emerging association with cardiovascular morbidity and mortality, is known to affect autonomic nervous system activity. We assessed the hypothesis that treatment of sleep apnoea patients with continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) alters the indices of heart rate variability (HRV) that...
متن کاملHumidified nasal continuous positive airway pressure in obstructive sleep apnoea.
Heated humidification of nasal continuous positive airway pressure (nCPAP) reduces upper airway symptoms and improves initial use in obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome (OSAS). The present study aimed to assess the effect of heated humidification of nCPAP on upper airway symptoms and initial use in obstructive sleep apnoea. This study was of a randomised, crossover design. Subjects with polysomno...
